Their vision is quite blurry at first. They can only see objects 20 to 30 centimeters away.
Although babies cry as soon as they are born, their eyes do not produce tears. This is because their tear ducts take about two to three months to fully develop.
For about two months, babies cannot consciously smile. They only smile in their sleep as a reflex.
Now, here’s something fascinating! Newborn babies are highly underdeveloped and unable to do many things, yet they can naturally swim. This is not a joke, newborns have a natural swimming reflex. If you put them in the water, they will start swimming.
If submerged underwater, they instinctively hold their breath. However, this reflex only lasts until they are about six months old. After that, if they want to swim, they must learn it again, usually between the ages of two to three years.
That being said, I would not recommend testing this out, as it could be risky.
